Features

HDTV Video Uponverting
The video scaler upconverts standard DVD signals to HD-compatible 720p, 1080i, or 1080p, and passes it through the HDMI output. Upconverted signals are not passed by the component video outputs.

Video D/A Converters
The DVD-2930CI uses a 12-bit, 216-MHz video D/A converter to tap the maximum potential DVD has to offer. This converter provides a high sampling frequency of 216-MHz, with 8x oversampling for Progressive video and 16x oversampling for Interlaced video, resulting in the most detailed D/A conversion.

10-Bit I/P Converter
Conversion from interlaced to progressive (I/P Converter) video is accomplished using a 10-bit converter developed by Silicon Optics and Denon. This 10-bit processing offers high conversion performance and dramatically improves motion detection capability.

Denon Pixel Image Correction (DPIC)
Also built on a 10-bit platform, DPIC's pixel by pixel correction compares nine different pixels of adjacent video data for each pixel correction. Luminance and chroma signals are also processed to suppress ringing noise and other artifacts.

Dual Discrete Video Circuit (DDVC)
Isolated video circuits for interlaced and progressive signals improve video precision.

Multi-Directional Diagonal Filter (MDDF)
MDDF detects and corrects at a pixel-level the directionality of lines, avoiding the "jaggies" often seen in supposedly straight diagonal lines.

Noise Shaped Video (NSV)
The NSV feature works in the digital domain to reduce noise in the video signal frequency band, improving video signal to noise ratio and enhancing video signal linearity.

Audio System

Pure Direct Mode
The DVD-2930CI includes two Pure Direct modes that further improve sound quality. During analog audio output, Pure Direct can turn off digital signal outputs, video signal outputs, and the front panel display, which can easily influence the sound quality of the analog audio signals. You can define which operations are to be turned off and store those preferences in memory.

Surround Sound Processors
Along with the multi-channel processors for DVD-Audio and SACD, Dolby Digital and DTS surround decoders are built in.

AL24 Processing for All Channels
Denon has further developed its proprietary AL24 Processing, an analog waveform reproduction technology, to support the 192 kHz sampling frequency of DVD-Audio. This new technology, AL24 Processing Plus, thoroughly suppresses quantization noise associated with D/A conversion of LPCM signals to reproduce the low-level signals with optimum clarity. Additionally AL24 expands original PCM 16-bit recordings to 24-bit word length using interpolation algorithms developed by Denon. The result is a more natural reproduction of spatial information and clarity that will bring out all the delicate nuances of the music.

Speaker Configuration
During the initial set up it is possible to set the speaker size, distance, and crossover point. The crossover point for bass management can be fixed at 40, 60, 80, 100 or 120 Hz.

HDCD Decoder
HDCD (High Definition Compatible Digital) is a digital audio recording technology, compatible with the conventional CD format. It significantly reduces distortion during recording to expand the dynamic range and realize higher resolution than standard CD. The HDCD decoder allows the DVD-2930CI to play discs that have been recorded in HDCD format and to bring out superior sonic performance from these discs. Combined with Denon's advanced audio technology, the DVD-2930CI masterfully reproduces HDCD's rich dynamic range and beautiful sound quality.

DVD-Audio Compatible
DVD-Audio is a multi-channel format used for high resolution audio recording. This unit can decode and play DVD-Audio discs with a sampling rate up to 192 kHz with a 24-bit word length.

SACD
Unlike PCM based technology (CD/MiniDisc/DVD/Audio DVD, etc.), Super Audio CD is based on Direct Stream Digital (DSD) encoding, which does not require decimation and interpolation filters. DSD is much simpler and enables a 1-bit signal to be recorded directly. DSD encodes music at 2,822,400 samples per second (64 times that of standard CD) allowing you to hear sound with incredible detail and clarity. DSD combines the advantages of digital recording with the best characteristics of analog sound. The DVD-2930CI unit will play 2-channel and multi-channel Super Audio CDs. During SACD playback, the optical digital and coaxial outputs do not operate. The Digital Link 3rd output or analog outputs must be used to listen to SACDs.

Disc Formats

MP3/WMA Playback
This unit will play MP3 files recorded onto CD-R and CD-RW discs using the ISO 9660 level 1 format (128 kbps and faster recommended). Windows Media Audio (WMA9) is also supported using a compression rate from 64-160 kbps.

JPEG Disc Playback
JPEG photo files stored on CD-R or CD-RW discs can be played as a slide show and enjoyed on your TV using the DVD-2930CI DVD Player; Kodak picture CDs and Fujicolor CDs are also supported. During slide show playback, you can rotate an image 90-degrees clockwise or counterclockwise, flip an image vertically or horizontally, or zoom in on an image. In addition, you can play the pictures in random order. Note: not compatible with Macintosh JPEG CDs.

Output Terminals

HDMI
The digital HDMI interface passes both digital video and audio using a single cable. HDMI Version 1.1 is compatible with copy protected DVDs with HDCP and CPPM content protection, which was not the case with version 1.0. Output signal compatability: 480i/576i, 480p/576p, 720p, 1080i, or 1080p.

5.1-Channel Audio Outputs
Our Code Free Denon DVD-2930CI offers multi-channel analog output for DVD-Audio, DVD-Video and SACD playback.

2-Channel Audio Outputs
In addition to the 5.1-channel analog outputs, the unit features a stereo audio output for connecting to a stereo analog input on a TV or receiver.

RS-232C Port
This port connects to the RS-232 port on a compatible external controller, allowing control of this player using outboard remote systems.

Room To Room In/Out
Two 3.5mm mini-jacks are provided for wired remote control, allowing you to connect the DVD-2930CI to compatible Denon components.

Convenience Features

3rd Edition Denon Link
The DVD-2930CI has an RJ-45 Denon Link 3rd Edition output. Through the Denon Link, the DVD player can transfer 6-channel 96kHz/24-bit or two channel stereo 192kHz/24-bit DVD-Audio signals, as well as 2-channel and multi-channel SACD signals, digitally to a receiver. Because the signal transfer is balanced and the voltage is lower than coaxial or unbalanced cables, the Denon Link is far less susceptible to radiated noise, which helps to ensure the highest level of signal transfer. Denon Link 3rd Edition uses a different signal from Denon Link S.E. (Second Edition). Because of this, the Denon Link 3rd Edition signals are only compatible with A/V receivers that are Denon Link 3rd compatible.

Resume Function
The Resume function allows the player to remember the point where you stopped play. Playback will resume from the point stored in memory. The stopping point is cleared if the tray is opened or the stop button is pressed a second time.

Picture Zooming
During DVD-Video and Video CD playback, you can enlarge the picture by 1x, 2x, or 3x. You can then use the cursor buttons to move the enlarged viewing area up, down, left, or right.

Bookmarks
Up to 8 points on a DVD-Video disc can be stored in memory and easily recalled. Markers are automatically cleared when the power is turned off or when the tray is opened.

Auto Power-Off
If the unit is in stop mode for approximately 30 minutes, it will automatically switch to standby mode.

Dimmer
The display can be adjusted to one of three brightness levels, or the display can be turned off.

Product Review:

The Denon Region Free DVD player is very easy to use. We primarily watch Region 1 and Region 2 discs. Our library has more than 1,000 DVDs and the player transitions perfectly from one region to the other. In fact, when we play our DVDs, we can’t tell the difference because the transition is seemless. I sometimes have to ask myself which Region we’re playing.

Buying Experience:

This is my second region free DVD player that I purchased from DVDCity.com. I’d like to note that when we had a repair issue with our first DVD player, which we still use, the response and service time was excellent.

I’ve been purchasing products from DVDCity.com for over four years. So far, I’ve bought 3 plasmas, 2 DVD players and a receiver. I would recommend your company to family and friends.
