Plays What You've Got--Even Photos!
The slim and stylish Pioneer DV-393-S can play DVDs containing TV content or home movies that you've recorded in either Video mode or VR Mode. Video Mode recordings, which can be burned to either DVD-R or DVD-RW discs, are playable on nearly all current DVD-Video playback systems. Video Recording (VR) Mode recordings, which can be burned only to DVD-RW discs, are playable on most DVD-RW-compatible players. The DV-393-S also plays CDs, including CD-R and CD-RW discs, and is compatible with MP3 and WMA discs. A JPEG PhotoViewer is included to view your Fujicolor CDs and Kodak Picture CDs through your television. Now even plays divX files!

Looking Good, Sounding Good
Pioneer's 2:3 Pull-Down PureCinema Progressive Scan system, along with a 12-bit/108 MHz video digital-to-analog converter, retains more of the clarity and subtlety of the original cinema experience. DVDs of movies originally shot on film can now display smooth, high-resolution moving images that are free of artifacts and jagged edges. PureCinema Progressive Scan makes for the best possible picture. For great audio, there are outputs for Dolby Digital and DTS Surround, plus a high-end 24-bit/192 kHz audio digital-to-analog converter for superb musical performance.

Don't Get Lost
Disc Navigator makes it simple to browse through digital disc content to find what you want to play. Press PLAY to start a slide show from the first stored folder/picture on a disc containing JPEG picture files. Adjust the image size to fill as much of the screen as possible, magnifying it by a factor of 2 or 4 if you choose. The DV-393-S has the ability to play MP3 and WMA audio, and the Disc Navigator also makes it easier to access and play these digital audio files recorded on CD-R/RW discs.

Delivered Just The Way You Like It
The DV-393-S features a Video Adjust Menu makes it easy to fine-tune picture settings, including sharpness, brightness, contrast, gamma (for picture warmth), hue (for red/green balance), and chroma level (for color saturation). A Dialog Enhancer feature comes in handy when watching movies. You can set the Dialog Enhancer at high, medium, low, or off (default), depending on how much you want a movie's dialogue to stand out from background sound in the soundtrack.

Audio System

Virtual Surround: When playing a Dolby Digital disc, this feature allows you to obtain a surround sound effect from only two speakers.

Dialogue Enhancer: The Dialogue Enhancer increases the center channel volume (relative to other channels), making movie dialogue easier to hear and understand.

Equalizer: The following EQ presets are stored into memory, allowing you to recall the best setting for different types of music: Rock, Pop, Live, Dance, Techno, Classic, Soft, or Off.

MP3/WMA Playback: This unit will play MP3/WMA files recorded onto CD-ROM, CD-R, and CD-RW discs using the ISO 9660 level 1/level2, Romeo, or Joliet formats. This player is not compatible with WMA loss-less-encoding, variable bit-rate MP3/WMA files, or multi-session recordings. Each disc can have a maximum of 299 files, and up to 648 files and folders combined.
